Founder Alex Gaffke wanted to build something that was not only delicious, but truly unique, with bold flavours, creative dishes, and an experience that stood out from the crowd. What began as a passion project quickly grew into one of the most talked about street food concepts around.
At the heart of Killa Waffles is a remarkable piece of history: a 1941 GMC “Jimmy” military truck. Originally built during the Second World War, the truck now serves a completely different mission, delivering unforgettable fried chicken and waffles to hungry crowds. The truck became a symbol of the brand: strong, distinctive, and impossible to ignore.
Killa Waffles quickly built a loyal following across street markets, food festivals, and pop ups. The menu blends comfort food with bold creativity, crispy buttermilk fried chicken, golden waffles, house made sauces, and unexpected flavour combinations that keep customers coming back for more.
The brand has also gained national recognition. In 2022, Killa Waffles appeared on BBC’s “Britain’s Top Takeaways”, showcasing its unique approach to street food and earning a place among the best in the UK. More recently, Alex won the Lamb Weston Loaded Fries Award at the Fried Chicken Championships 2026 and the Street Food Championships Bloggers’ Choice Award 2025, proving that creativity and quality remain at the heart of everything the team does.
